Old Vine Registry
The Old Vine Registry is the world’s largest public database cataloguing vineyards aged more than 35 years. The project was started by acclaimed wine industry veteran Jancis Robinson and launched publicly online in June 2023.
The philosophy is that once vineyards are documented they become visible, and visibility leads people to value, celebrate and ultimately protect them. As of March 30, 2026, it listed 10,043 vineyards covering 42,751 hectares and 1,144 grape varieties across 42 countries. Ranging in age from 35 years old to over 400 years old.
35+ years
Wooldridge Creek is proud to have its vineyard recognized by the Old Vine Registry. Our vines have weathered decades of Southern Oregon seasons, dry spells and cold snaps, sinking deep roots into our soils and learning to thrive with little help from us. Look for the Old Vine Registry Seal on our bottles soon. Every bottle carries a little history, and we’re honored to help keep it growing.
Why old vines
Shaped by decades of thoughtful stewardship, old vines hold the secrets of survival. They tolerate drought and heatwaves, have adapted to live with pests and disease, and have experienced extreme weather conditions. Deeply adapted to our soils, they require fewer manual inputs.
These gnarly vines also store significant biomass and carbon reserves. They support local water and biological cycles as their deep, wide roots are woven into the mycorrhizal network that feeds and protects our soils.
Old vines bring old wisdom: balanced crops, deeper character, and wines that taste unmistakably of Wooldridge Creek Vineyard.
